There is something very special about homemade gifts. Anyone can dash into a shop or purchase one online in a flash and have an instant fix that fits the bill. But giving a homemade present is a much more thoughtful gesture, and one that brings a genuinely personal touch to the process. People always say ‘it’s the thought that counts’ and this is where homemade gifts really come into their own. The person receiving the present will know that in giving that gift you invested your thought and time too, something to really appreciate and value.
With the same sentiment in mind, I have also always given homemade cards. If you build a good supply of card and craft materials, it only takes a few minutes to make a unique and personal card to suit any occasion. Then, if you make batches of jams and chutneys or natural beauty products from time to time, you can always keep one or two spare for the odd birthday or hostess gift and never have to have a last minute panic.
If you get into the habit of making these homemade goodies you’ll be able to enjoy sampling them, and practicing the recipes, and when Christmas or birthdays come around you’ll always be prepared. On Whole Food Home, I’ll be sharing lots of ideas for homemade gifts and hope that you’ll enjoy making and giving them as much as I do too.
