Spring Cleaning – How To Clean Your Own Carpets

January 9, 2017 by Sara Leave a Comment

I’ve never really understood the concept of spring cleaning as I’ve always thought it’s a better idea to keep on top of it all year round. Mind you, that doesn’t mean I enjoy it!  And I’m the first in the queue for any labour and time saving gadgets that promise to give me an easier life!

This is where my new best friend The Bissell Little Green comes in.

We’ve been having some quite major building work done recently, and despite my best efforts with dust sheets and polythene, I’m still finding the evidence weeks later. So I knew I needed a bit more help, and decided to give the Bissell Little Green a try.

I’ve always hired carpet cleaners in the past, but I didn’t want to have to do the whole house in one go. Also we have a few Indian rugs which needed a more gentle approach, and I was worried that a more industrial carpet cleaner might be a bit too aggressive.

This little cleaner is simple, compact and very well designed and I really like how light and portable it is.  You fill one tank with the spray solution, and the dirty water gets sucked up into the other tank, along with a lot of alarmingly grey fluff! It’s as simple as that!

I did worry that it might not be powerful enough to do a good job, but I was wrong. The spray and suction is strong and because its so easy to get into awkward places, nowhere is out of reach.

It comes with good, clear instructions but it’s simple and logical to use and you only really need them the first time, and the advantage of buying over hiring, is that I’ve got it ready when it’s time to do the spring cleaning.
