This Instant Turmeric Tea is a super quick way to serve up all the health benefits of turmeric in a tasty hot toddy. I’ve been intrigued lately about all the incredible health claims associated with turmeric. Although widely used in Indian cuisine and medicine for thousands of years, we’ve been a bit slow on the uptake in the west and seem to be a bit late at the party.
The advantage of this Instant Turmeric tea recipe is not only it’s ease and speed of preparation but that it’s a good way to get a regular dose of turmeric in your diet – if you don’t usually fancy curry that often.
I mentioned the benefits are pretty impressive – amazingly this spice provides cast iron support to your immune system, it’s a potent anti-oxidant, seeing off viruses and even protecting against cancer. But it’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory, providing relief from anything from a headache to chronic joint pain and arthritis.
In this recipe the aromatic, scented flavour of the turmeric pairs well with the sweetness of the honey and you can add a little lemon juice or cider vinegar for an added bit of zing. It’s really quick to mix up a batch and it keeps for as long as you want in a screw top jar in a cool cupboard.
Ingredients for Instant Turmeric Tea
200g Pure local honey
20g (4 tsp) organic ground turmeric
Mix together the honey and the turmeric in a small jar until they are blended into a smooth golden paste. Use the best honey you can get hold of and it will add to the anti inflammatory and anti bacterial effect, and if it’s a locally produced honey then you’ll also have the extra protection from pollen allergies too.
