Jumbleberry Chia Seed Jam
Cook time
Total time
Jumbleberry Chia Seed Jam is a healthier, quicker and easier alternative to traditional jam.
Recipe type: preserves
  • 500g Mixed berries (I used frozen - but fresh would be even better!)
  • 3 tbsp date syrup (you could also use maple syrup or honey)
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds
  1. This is such a simple recipe and really only requires mixing the ingredients over a gentle heat for less than 20 mins.
  2. If you are using frozen berries, start by defrosting them gently in a deep heavy pan, add the syrup or honey of your choice and stir in the chia seeds.
  3. Allow the jam mixture to thicken as it gently bubbles.
  4. The chia seeds give it a lovely gooey jam texture that is often missing in other low sugar jam recipes.
  5. It is best to make this sort of jam in smaller batches as without the higher sugar content it will only keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks
  6. But it is so useful for desserts, pancakes and breakfasts it won't last long!.
