Coconut & Honey Foaming DIY Bath Milk

March 2, 2016 by Sara 2 Comments

This Coconut & Honey Foaming DIY Bath Milk is so simple to mix up and wonderfully silky and luxurious on the skin. You can add it directly to the water for a soothing bath or rub it straight on with a damp sponge or flannel like a shower gel.

Most shop bought bubble-baths and shower-gels contain all sorts of nasty chemicals which are added to make them more gloopy and foamy and quite frankly just aren’t necessary, so it’s much better to make your own from natural ingredients and you even end up saving money too.

Just as we need to know what’s in the food we eat, it’s really important to be aware of exactly what’s in the products that you use on your body. And it only takes four easily obtained ingredients to make up a batch of this coconut and honey foaming bath oil that feels so indulgent and lasts a good few months.  It’s also perfect to make at Christmas for homemade presents, as you can see from the photo above.

Ingredients For Coconut & Honey DIY Bath Milk

400ml can of organic coconut milk

340g runny honey

400ml organic castille liquid soap ( I use Dr Bronners but you can use organic baby bath if you prefer)

24 drops of your preferred essential oil (I use a 12 drops each of Lavender and Rose Geranium)

  • Make sure the coconut milk isn’t too cold as it makes it solidify, and give it a good shake before you open the can.
  • Empty all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and whisk together until it is completely blended and frothy.
  • Using a funnel, pour the mixture into the bottles that you intend to use. I try to save interesting bottles specially for this, old liqueur bottles always look rather exotic!
  • The bath milk is ready to use straight away, always remember to shake it well before you use it each time, as it will separate, but it mixes up again very quickly when shaken.

Honey is a natural preserver because of the high sugar content, so I have always found this coconut and honey bath milk keeps very well for a month or two. I love it so much that I tend to use it up much quicker than that anyway!
